House Of Demeter, is not only a new album project but also a new song circle project dedicated to advancing democracy and human rights through the mediums of collective music and art creation, and political education. This project – which is deeply rooted in movement building history – will break down barriers and unite individuals from all walks of life, fostering collaboration and creativity in pursuit of a more just and inclusive society.

Through mentorship from experienced facilitators, participants will learn not only song circle techniques but also begin to practice making collective decisions and building community power. House Of Demeter, will encourage participants to go through a humanizing process.

Pauline Pisano embodies the spirit of creative rebellion. As a founding member of Songs In The Key of Resistance, a cultural arts initiative nestled under Freedom Church of the Poor and The Kairos Center for Rights, Religions, and Social Justice, Pauline collaborates with communities nationwide, leveraging the potency of collective song practices to bolster inclusive decision-making processes rooted in democratic principles. Pauline’s most recent project, House Of Demeter, is a new album and community song circle project in Joshua Tree, CA whose goal is to empower local voices through music and art, and political education rooted in the principles of, “Fighting poverty, not the poor.”

Pauline has garnered well-deserved recognition for their contributions to the arts and activism, notably as a nominee for "Outstanding Female Vocalist" at the esteemed 2023 Joshuas Awards Gala in Joshua Tree, California. Her relocation to this vibrant artistic hub follows a distinguished tenure as an artist-in-residence at The Byrdcliffe Arts Colony in Woodstock, NY, where Pauline facilitated transformative discussions on the role of art in times of social upheaval. Before attending Byrdcliffe she was presented with the Carmen Ortiz Hendrick Award for Excellence from Silberman School of Social Work.

In New York, Pauline was a co-facilitator of the arts and culture committee with the NYS Poor People’s Campaign, harnessing the transformative power of art to elevate the voices of the dispossessed. Additionally, Pauline served as an advocate within the emergency rooms of NY Presbyterian Hospital through the Domestic and Other Violence Emergencies (DOVE) Program, providing crucial support to survivors of trauma.
